No win, no fee crypto recovery: what it means, and what it does not
Our interests should be aligned with the outcome, not the invoice. This page explains the fee model in plain English, including the parts some firms leave in the small print.
The model, step by step
- Free written evaluation. You describe what happened. A solicitor reads it and replies in writing with an honest assessment. You owe nothing and are free to walk away.
- Terms agreed in writing. If the matter is accepted, the success fee percentage, the recovery condition, and how any third-party costs are handled are set out in a written agreement for your specific case before any work begins.
- Payable only on actual recovery. The success fee becomes due only if recovered funds or a settlement reach a bank account you control. A freeze order, a promising trace, or a court judgment on paper is not, by itself, a recovery.
- Nothing recovered, no success fee. If the matter concludes without recovery, no success fee is payable.
A lighthouse keeper is paid for the ships that reach harbour, not for the storms he describes
That is the principle behind this fee model. The practice takes on the risk that a case may go nowhere, because the client has usually already lost enough. What the client never funds is false hope: if the written review concludes there is no realistic path, the practice says so and declines the matter rather than billing for motion without movement.
What this practice will never do
- Ask for money upfront, for any reason
- Invoice in cryptocurrency, or ask you to pay to unlock, release, insure, or verify assets
- Ask for your seed phrase, private key, password, or remote access to your devices
- Guarantee recovery or publish invented success rates
Frequently asked questions
Do I pay anything upfront for a crypto recovery case?
No. The written case evaluation is free. If the matter is accepted, the success fee is agreed in writing for that case and becomes payable only if recovered funds or a settlement reach a bank account you control. The practice never charges upfront and never accepts payment in cryptocurrency.
What happens if nothing is recovered?
If nothing is recovered, no success fee is payable. The specific terms, including how any third-party costs are treated, are set out in the written agreement for your case before work begins.
Is crypto recovery guaranteed under a no win, no fee agreement?
No. Recovery is never guaranteed. No win, no fee describes how fees are charged, not the likelihood of success. The practice does not publish success rates and will tell you in writing if a matter has no realistic path.
