SRA-Regulated Crypto Recovery Legal Practice

Lost crypto to a scam? Start with a straight answer from a UK solicitor.

Kevin Smith Legal is a crypto recovery legal practice in Liverpool, England. Kevin Smith, a solicitor of England and Wales admitted in 2005, reads what you send and tells you in writing whether a real legal path exists. Some losses can be pursued. Some cannot. You will read plainly which.

  • We never ask for a seed phrase, a private key, or remote access such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer.
  • No win, no fee agreed in writing per case. Nothing is paid upfront, and never in crypto.
  • We cannot act for citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Germany, Italy, or France.
  • A written review does not retain the practice and promises no recovery.

Request a Free Case Evaluation

About one minute. Do not include seed phrases, private keys, passwords, or identity documents. Sending this form does not mean the practice is acting for you.

A short account is enough. Never paste seed phrases, private keys, or passwords.

We reply in writing from info@kevinsmithlegal.com; your phone number is used only if you ask us to call. The evaluation is free and without obligation. If a matter is accepted, terms are agreed in writing before any work begins. If nothing is recovered, no success fee is payable.

The Second Crime

The first fraud emptied the wallet. The second is the caller who knows what you lost.

Lists of fraud victims are sold between criminal networks. Days or months after a loss, a polished voice offers recovery for an unlock fee, a tax payment, or remote access to your device. That is usually the same organisation wearing a new mask.

A solicitor's letter is a key that fits one lock. A scammer's promise is a key that claims to fit them all.

Real recovery work is narrow on purpose. Where coins still sit at a regulated, custodial venue, a UK court may grant interim relief that freezes what it can see. Where coins are gone, an honest solicitor says so. A helpdesk ticket creates a reference number. A freezing order creates a legal hold. Anyone selling speed, secrecy, or guaranteed results on Telegram or WhatsApp is not tracing. They are billing.

Read our Anti-Scam Notice before you answer the next call. Then report the scam through the proper UK channels.

Practice Areas

Crypto recovery legal services, stated plainly

Four fields of work. A review does not mean the practice is acting for you, and it promises no recovery. It tells you where you stand.

01

Lost Access and Wallet Recovery

Forgotten credentials, broken devices, incomplete records, and locked hosted accounts, reviewed lawfully and without ever asking for your keys.

02

Crypto Fraud and Theft

Phishing, fake trading platforms, romance and investment fraud, and unauthorised transfers: evidence preserved, tracing instructed, action assessed.

03

Custodial Disputes

Frozen accounts, locked exchanges, missing balances. Documented disputes with genuine custodians, prepared to a standard a court can read.

04

Estate Succession

Cryptocurrency inside a deceased estate: lawful access for executors, administrators, and heirs, subject to probate and proper authority.

No Win, No Fee

Aligned with the outcome, not the paperwork

The case evaluation is free. If a matter is accepted, it is taken on a no win, no fee basis agreed in writing for that specific case. The success fee percentage is set out in the written agreement before any work begins, and it becomes payable only if recovered funds or a settlement actually reach a bank account you control.

If nothing is recovered, no success fee is payable. The practice never asks for money upfront, never invoices in cryptocurrency, and never asks to be paid to unlock, release, or insure assets that supposedly await you.

How We Work

Trace. Assess. Act where a court can reach.

That sequence is deliberate. Anyone selling speed is not doing legal work.

Step 01

You send the facts

Share what you can without surrendering control of a wallet: transaction hashes, wallet addresses, platform URLs, chat exports, bank references, and any police or Action Fraud reference number.

Step 02

A specialist reviews the file

Kevin Smith reads the written account. Where technical tracing is warranted, the practice instructs BNG Software, a Hong Kong blockchain intelligence partner, under the engagement terms agreed with you.

Step 03

You hear back in writing

Some matters have a real path: a freeze, a claim, a documented dispute, or a Swiss injunction through partner counsel at Crypto Justice Legal. Some do not. You will read which, plainly, in writing.

International Partners

One UK file. Reach across three jurisdictions.

Crypto fraud rarely respects borders. The practice works with named specialist partners so that a single enquiry can reach Swiss courts and institutional-grade blockchain forensics.

Switzerland Cross-Border Legal Counsel

Crypto Justice Legal

The intake name of Sascha Christener, MLaw, a Swiss attorney admitted in the Canton of Bern in February 2018. Where an order from a Swiss court can reach assets held in Switzerland, partner counsel is engaged to act under a separate written engagement.

Hong Kong Blockchain Forensics

BNG Software

BNG SOFTWARE LIMITED (Hong Kong Co. No. 2781989) combines blockchain analytics, graph intelligence, and AI-assisted investigation workflows to reconstruct cryptocurrency transactions and organise technical evidence to a court-readable standard.

Common Questions

Questions people actually ask a crypto lawyer

Can stolen cryptocurrency actually be recovered?

Sometimes. Where Bitcoin, Ether, USDT, or other assets still sit at a custodial exchange, a court order combined with credible forensic evidence can, in some cases, freeze them. Where assets have been withdrawn, mixed, or moved beyond the reach of any cooperating institution, recovery may not be realistic. The practice does not publish success rates and does not guarantee recovery.

Do you ask for seed phrases, private keys, or AnyDesk?

No. Never. Anyone who asks for a seed phrase, a private key, wallet sync, a password, or remote access such as AnyDesk or TeamViewer is not this practice. If a caller claims to be Kevin Smith Legal and asks for any of these, hang up and report it through our Anti-Scam Notice page.

What does no win, no fee mean here?

The written case evaluation is free. If the matter is accepted, the success fee is agreed in writing for that case and is payable only if recovered funds or a settlement reach a bank account you control. If nothing is recovered, no success fee is payable. Nothing is charged upfront, and the practice never accepts payment in cryptocurrency.

Who can the practice not act for?

We cannot take clients who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States, Germany, Italy, or France, because local licensing rules prevent it. Clients from the United Kingdom and the rest of the world are welcome to request an evaluation.

How do I report a crypto scam in the UK?

Report to Action Fraud, preserve your evidence, and read the step-by-step guidance on our Report a Scam page. A police report number and a solicitor's file can coexist; one does not replace the other.

One page of facts is enough to start

Tell us what happened, without handing over control of anything. A solicitor reads it, and you receive a written answer. The evaluation is free, and you are free to walk away.
